Show us your art! The new year is rolling in and we’re looking for an artist from our very own Dirt community to represent our upcoming 2025 Dirt Subscription.

For 2024, David Alderman created a playful, animated piece of our dear mascot Dirty dancing in the rain. Previously, Amber Vittoria’s piece showcased a wormhole-like portal mimicking water ripples or tree trunk rings. Even now, we are still obsessed with Monica Rizzolli’s generative artwork of the mycelium network as our Founder Pass. 

You are invited to submit original art for a chance to be featured as Dirt’s official subscription art for all of 2025. Only one final winner will be selected by Dirt staff and voted on by Dirt Founders. The top three contenders will receive a free annual subscription and the grand prize for the selected winner is $500. Submissions are due by December 1st.

Show us landscapes or intimate spaces of nature and technology entangled together. Think blades of fresh grass growing out of a beaten keyboard that perhaps once typed important emails not that long ago. Nature and tech wrestling against each other to consume the other, or synchronizing in harmony to coexist—the choice is yours. See are.na moodboard.

How to submit:

  • Put “ART SUBMISSION” in the subject line. 

  • Submitted pieces must be original and unpublished elsewhere.

  • A short description of your work and artist intro is nice to have.

  • The theme is a suggestion to help inspire creative work but submissions may optionally adhere to the theme. 

  • Please refrain from using our mascot Dirty. An appearance is fine but we’d prefer Dirty to not be the focal point this time. 

  • Browse dirt.fyi and use the visuals from our site as inspiration to stay on brand.

  • Deadline: December 1st, 2024 at 11:59pm ET.

The fine print: 

Submissions are due on December 1st, 2024. Only one final winner will be selected as the cover image of Dirt Media’s subscription art for 2025 and receive a $500 cash prize. The winner will be notified and announced by December 15th, 2024.
